When I was in preschool, my favorite time of day was when I was allowed to draw and paint. As I got older, this love never faded and recently I found The Padre Island Art Gallery, where a large amount of my work is on display and for sale. I am also an instructor, teaching children and adult classes.
I use many different mediums, such as acrylics, watercolors, and colored pencils. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
I enjoy walking my dog in my spare time and many of my pieces are directly influenced by these walks in nature. I love recreating plants and wildlife in my work. I am also very inspired by music and paint and create while listening to it.
I am a stay home mom and full-time caregiver to my mom. I'm a lucky wife to an awesome, hard-working husband. I am also a dog mom! I love my rescue pitbull. I have been painting and artistic since I was a very little girl. I did my first painting at 8 years old. I have been a waitress, bartender, Deputy Court Clerk III, and a personal banker. In my 20s, I volunteered as a Brownie Leader. And again, after having my sons, was their Cub Scout Leader for years and the Pack Secretary. I later became involved in the PTA as President and Vice President. Alternating terms.
All this time, I was preparing to be an entrepreneur. I learned so many leadership skills and always had independent jobs. Little did I know just how much it would prepare me. Same with my volunteering roles, getting me ready to run my own business.
I didn't have much time for my art while I was raising my son's. Once they reached high school, I decided it was time to get back to my art. So the past, I would say, 4 years I have been dedicating myself to my art and painting commissioned paintings. This year I illustrated a book, and decided to open my own business, a paint party business. Teaching people how to paint step-by-step leaving with a painting that they can be proud of. I jumped right in and have been having successful parties and doing vendor events from the start. I'm grateful that my husband supports me and my decisions with my business. And most importantly I'm blessed to be able to do what I love every day and get paid for it.
